In this language ‘star’: the hard ‘t’
an unlovely metallic grain,
the ‘ar’ a lingering heat.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaI prefer
‘seren’: a sigh of vowels,
an arcing surrender of air – our own breathing
under a constellated evening,
I cherishing the aptness
of yourself as each lit O.
