rests briefly on the ash that’s just putting out leaves

makes no sound among the chaffinches and blackbirds and reiterated note

from the rubbish vans in the outside estate. He is doing his rounds,

looking for garbage to collect, wheeling among the crows

that are scattered like bin bags.
